Military Appreciation Month

Military Appreciation Month

Posted by Robert Lemoine on 10th May 2014

Help us salute our military this month as we kick off a campaign like none we’ve ever done before.During the month of May, which is National Military Appreciation Month, we will donate one (1) du rag to the Blue Star Mothers for every three (3) du rags we sell.

The Blue Star Mothers are a group of women who are sending their children the supplies they need while stationed away from home.As an Army infantry veteran, I understand some of the hardships our troops are going through.Where the smallest letter from home makes all of the difference to a soul sitting alone in a foreign land.

Please help us help these ladies. No discount codes. No minimum orders. On June 1st, 2014, we will count the number of du rags sold and divide by three.Hopefully, by June 7th, the Blue Star Mothers will receive a box of du rags to help our men and women stay covered wherever they are stationed.

Congress designated May as National Military Appreciation Month in 1999 to ensure the nation was given the opportunity to publicly demonstrate their appreciation for the sacrifices and successes made by our service members - past and present. Each year the president makes a proclamation, reminding Americans of the important role the U.S. Armed Forces have played in the history and development of our country.

May was selected because it has most days set aside for celebrating and commemorating our military's achievements. These days include Loyalty Day, which was established in 1921, Victory in Europe (VE) Day commemorating the end of WWII in Europe on May 8, 1945, Armed Forces Day created in 1949, Military Spouse Appreciation Day established in 1984, and of course the best known of the May holidays, Memorial Day.

Please note that we are not affiliated in any way with the Blue Star Mothers. Please help us surprise them next month with as many du rags as possible. We’d love to send 1,000 du rags on behalf of our caring customers, but even 5 will be a blessing to some of our soldiers.
